Walmart Foundation donates money for free dental clinic

The Walmart Foundation has donated more than 200,000 dollars to help provide free dental care for people in Arkansas.

The Foundation donated a sum of $248,100 to the Arkansas Mission of Mercy to fund a two-day free dental clinic. The money will mean that the clinic can offer an additional twenty dental chairs at this year’s event; 100 dental chairs will now be available to treat patients.

This year’s dental event will take place on the 20th and 21st May at the State Convention Center; a range of treatments, including cleaning treatments, fillings and extractions will be available. Organisers are anticipating a large turnout so people are encouraged to get there early to avoid disappointment.

Dr Miranda Childs-Beebe said that the dental event was an incredible opportunity for local dentists and dental professionals to work together to help people in the community; she said that a large proportion of people in Arkansas have poor oral health as a result of not being able to afford regular dental treatment.
