Scottish group in talks to shape the future of American dentistry

A pioneering Scottish company is currently in talks to take their innovative technology across the Atlantic to North America and Canada. Cariescan, which was formed as a result of the breakdown of Idmos, has already got the all clear to market the Cariescan Pro in Canada and is awaiting approval from the U.S Food and Drug Administration to distribute the same product across the USA.

The Cariescan Pro is a sophisticated and modern hand-held machine, which is able to detect early signs of decay with a greater degree of accuracy than a traditional X-ray machine. This technology fits in with the current promotion of preventive dental health in the USA and looks set to improve general health across North America if the distribution rights are granted.

If the application to sell the product in the U.S is successful, the future looks extremely bright for the Cariescan dental group; the North American market is the largest and most lucrative dental health market in the world and the move will undoubtedly boost the company’s profile and financial gains significantly. Chief executive, Graham Lay expressed his excitement at the prospect of working with North American distributors.
