Dentist shortage on the Isle of Man

The Department of Health has confirmed that a Douglas practice on the Isle of Man is suffering from a shortage of dentists. The Hillside Dental Practice, on Westmoreland Road, is suffering from recruitment problems according to information given by the DOH after a request from a news outlet.

A spokesman for the Department of Health was quoted as saying; ‘In response to your request for information on the provision of dental services at the Hillside Dental Practice, the Department of Health confirms that there is a shortage of dentists at present.’ The Department of Health was however unavailable to comment on whether treatment for any patients had been cancelled or delayed as a result of the dentist shortage.

Director of health strategy and performance Norman McGregor, along with dental department service manager Carolyn Lewis and primary care operations manager Dave Kissack, will attend a press conference to address the recruitment problems “being experienced in the department’s Salaried Dental Service” late on Tuesday 7th.
