Dental society donates to free clinic

A dental society has given a generous donation to help out a local clinic.

The Luzerne County Dental Society has donated $1000 to help the Wilkes-Barre free clinic, which offers dental care for those who struggle to afford treatment. The clinic takes place every Tuesday at St Stephen’s Episcopal Church, on Franklin Street, Wilkes-Barre.

The clinic opens every Tuesday between 1pm until 3:30 pm and offers a range of general dental treatments, including fillings, tooth extractions and examinations. Patients who require a cleaning treatment are referred to Luzerne County Community College.

The donation from the dental society will help to support the weekly clinic and allow volunteer dentists to continue treating the needy and vulnerable. Access to affordable dental care is a huge problem across the USA, with millions of people struggling to afford dental care. The clinic is geared towards those on a low income who do not have dental insurance to help with the cost of dental treatment.
