A group of Belmar dentists are joining forces to host a free dental event on Friday 23rd March.
Dr Philip Hanapole will be joined by nine local dentists to provide free dental treatments for the residents of Belmar as part of the Dentistry from the Heart programme.
Dentistry from the Heart was established in 2001 by Dr Vincent Monticciolo to help people across the USA gain access to dental treatment. Hundreds of dentists across the country give up their time to treat people free of charge to ensure that those on a low income, the uninsured and unemployed are able to get the treatment they need.
The team of dentists is aiming to treat around 100 people over the course of the day and services will include fillings, extractions and cleaning treatments.
This will be the third day-long clinic Dr Hanapole has organised. Last year the team treated around 120 people, donating more than $20,000 dollars worth of treatment.
Dr Hanapole said that the event was a lifeline for people who are in desperate need and that without free clinics a huge number of people would never to be able to get the treatment they need. Dentistry from the Heart therefore provides a very valuable service and an opportunity for dentists to give back to the community.
The event will begin at 8am on Friday 23rd March at Hanapole Dental Care on Main Street and the team will treat as many people as possible until the clinic closes at 6pm. Appointments will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.
