What is the average cost of 5 dental veneers?

Friday, June 24th, 2011
Q.
Would you be able to give me an estimate of how much it would cost to get 5 dental veneers? Also, would the type of veneer (porcelain for example) have an affect on the cost?
A.
hi, many thanks for your email, the cost of 5 porcelain veneers can vary dependant on which practice you chose to have the treatment done by and which technician is making the work. the cost per veneer can range from £500 – £1000. the type of veneer material is usually porcelain but many laboratory have now branded there veneers very much like clothing, so there are products such as mac veneers, lumineers, davinci veneers. do not be fooled though most are of similar quality and like buying into a brand can work out much more expensive. hope this is helpful.

You can’t see my teeth when I smile, why is this?

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011
Q.
Hello Doctor, I wonder if you can help?
I have a full set of good teeth, but my problem is that when I smile they are not seen. Some times I am asked if I have no teeth and I am very self concious about this.
Is there any dental proceedure that can rectify this condition.I would like to have a nice smile.
Thank you for your time and any information you can give me
A.
It is difficult to advise you and diagnosis why you do not show teeth. There could be many factors involved such as: lip size, lip movement due to facial muscle, small upper and lower jaw bones, short teeth. There are a variety of solutions that may work such as: orthodontics, or veneers but it depends on the cause. I recommend you consult with a dentist to discuss your options. You may need to consult with more than one. Visit our website at www.lernerlemongello.com for examples of smile makeovers. Dr. Lemongello

My dental hygenist has sliced off the ends of my front teeth, what can I do?

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011
Q.
Dr Kirtley, Two months ago due to enamel erosion, a hygenist has sliced off the ends of my front teeth and now apart from it being painful, my front teeth are now a millimetre too short and is affecting my speech. My teeth are very healthy and straight but can the ends be bonded back on and if they can, how would this effect the health of my teeth? Would it be strong to not break?

As the ends of my front teeth are still tingling after 2 months, how long would you say it takes for any pain or senstivity from chipped teeth to go away?

A.
Hello. I am sorry to hear about your troubles,
This could be remedied through the placement of veneers. This would eliminate the sensitivity and regain your length and speech issues. I can refer you to someone who is well qualified if you let me know where you live. hope this helps and if you need anymore information, please feel free to get in touch

My dentist has shaved a large portion of my teeth and the crowns he has given me are too thin

Tuesday, May 10th, 2011
Q.
hiya

I went to the dentist to get veneers as I have badly discoloured teeth.

I have an overjet and the dentist said he could also deal with that, I agreed.

When I was having the treatment I looked in a mirror in the bath room and noticed that the dentist has shave off nearly 3/4s of my teeth. I has not agreed to this amount and I was pretty unhappy. The dentist had intimated that the procedure would be pretty straightforward and non-invasive. becasue he took so much off I had to have crown fitted instead of veneers on some of my teeth.

Now that the process is finished you can STILL see the discolouration through the crowns/veneers.

what can I do about this?

A.
If you still have discoloration and see through the crowns bring this to the attention of the dentist. If it is not acceptable to you, he may have to re-treat these teeth making the veneer/crown thicker. Dr. Lemongello

Dentist tells ms spots on teeth can’t be removed. Would bonding or veneers cover them?

Tuesday, May 3rd, 2011
Q.
hello Drs Lerner and Lemengello. Can you please assist.   i have spots on my teeth which my dentist tells me can’t be removed with the usual teeth whitening or bleaching. I have been looking into other treatments and wondered which you would recommend, cosmetic bonding or veneers. although i worry about how much damage veneers will do to my natural teeth. which would you suggest? And what are the prices for each procedure?

thanks

A.
It is not possible to make a recommendation without seeing your situation. Consult with your dentist on what they would recommend. However, in general bonding or veneering requires some minor reshaping of the tooth for a successful outcome. Bonding is usually less expensive but the life expectancy of the material is less than porcelain. Also, porcelain is usually more natural in appearance, stronger and will last longer. Dr. Lemongello

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011

Hello Dr’s. just over three months ago I had two dental veneers applied for teeth that were crooked as I did not want braces. Now, I am getting a pain in my gum where the veneers are and do not know what to do. Can you please offer any advice?

My advise is to contact the dentist who provided the treatment and let him evaluate the situation. Dr. Lemongello

What is the difference between veneers and lumineers?

Tuesday, March 8th, 2011
Q.
Would you be able to tell me what the difference is between veners and lumineers. My dentists has recommended them both to me as I dont want braces but am not sure what the difference is?
A.

There is little difference in that veneers and Lumineers are both made of porcelain and share the technique of being minimally invasive. Porcelain veneers come in different qualities.  Lumineers are a proprietary form of porcelain veneers marketed by the company. However, traditional porcelain veneers fabricated by a skilled technician are much more artistically crafted in regards to beauty and natural appearance. Traditional veneers also have a better fit on the tooth and can be made of better materials than Lumineers. Dr. Lemongello

Is having to replace veneers twice in 14 years too much?

Tuesday, March 8th, 2011
Q.
Over 14 years I have had my veneers replaced two times and I am now going to need to get them replaced again. Is there not other option as I bound to need to get them replaced in not too many years.
A.
Replacement of veneers every 7 years sounds like a lot.  It is unusual to hear this.  Full coverage crowns may have to be an option if you choose to do this again.

Are veneers used to improve the colour of teeth?

Thursday, March 3rd, 2011
Q.
Is veneers only for teeth that are discoloured or can it help with teeth that are crooked. It is mainly my front teeth but I dnot want to go with braces especially metal braces. Braces are quite expensie and I don’t want the effot of having to wear them for months and months,
A.
Veneers are ultra thin porcelain coverings for your teeth that can be used to change the shape and position of your teeth to correct them if they are crooked. Veneers can be as expensive as braces so if you are happy with the color and shape of your teeth you can straighten them.  Also, you don’t necessarily have to have conventional braces.  Perhaps Invisalign is an option.  Consult with your dentist.  Dr. Lemongello
