What options are available when a veneer is chipped?

Wednesday, July 20th, 2011
Q.
My veneer has chipped and looks quite horrible. I have had for quite some time now, but it only started to feel vulnerable after treatment I had on a tooth next to it last month. Is my only choice to just get another veneer put in?
A.
Hi, many thanks for your email, if your veneer has chipped then the best treatment option would be to have the veneer replaced. i hope this is helpful.

What is a smile makeover?

Tuesday, July 12th, 2011
Q.
I have come across what is called a smile makeover, and would like to know what this is exactly? I am guessing there must be a limit to how many treatments you get done within this treatment…
A.
A smile makeover is unigue to each patients’ needs and ususally the term is used to describe the outcome of cosmetic dentistry.  A makeover can consist of anywhere from just bleaching (to change color only) to veneers or crowns to change the shape and color of your teeth. If you are interested in improving the appearance of your smile a makeover may be for you!

What treatment is available to fix gaps between front teeth?

Monday, July 11th, 2011
Q.
Can you please inform me of the treatment options available to close the gap between the two front teeth. This has been the vain of my existence for as long as I can remember and I am desperate to get it sorted.
A.
There are 3 main treatment options to close the gap between your teeth, depending on the situation. They are Orthodontics (braces or Invisalign), composite bonding or porcelain veneers. All have advantages and disadvantages, so investigate them all prior to your final choice. Dr. Lemongello

What happens to real teeth when you get veneers?

Friday, June 24th, 2011
Q.
What happens to my normal crooked teeth if I get lumineers? Are they still able to stay in a good condition through normal teeth cleaning or are they more prone to food getting stuck and decay?
A.
With all types of porcelain veneers the tooth is reshaped as minimal as possible and sometimes not at all leaving the tooth in its best possible condition. You treat veneers like natural teeth with normal cleanings. Veneered teeth are generally not prone to decay but it can occur as with any dental restoration.

What treatment is available for a chipped tooth?

Thursday, June 23rd, 2011
Q.
I chipped my front tooth a week ago. There was little pain at the time but it has gradually got worse and it doesn’t look all that nice anyway. What treatment is available to fix this. Is there a chance I have gone down to the nerve and this is why it is hurting. When I eat or drink something it is quite painful.
A.
It is possible you have involved the nerve and why it may be hurting. Treatment options can range from bonding to placing a porcelain veneer or crown depending on how much is broken and what you want to accomplish. The pain will only get worse so consult a dentist as soon as possible.

What is the average cost of porcelain veneers?

Monday, June 20th, 2011
Q.
About two years ago now I get two dental veneers for my two front teeth. They were crooked and I did not want to go with braces. Anyhow, now one of them has broken off with a bit still visbile on my real tooth. I guess my only option is to get a replacement and that it is too far gone after initial treatment for it to be given free. Would you be able to give me an estimate for a dental veneer as I expect the prices have changed somewhat since I had them done?
A.
Unfortunately the fee for a veneer varies greatly depending on where you live and if a qualified doctor is performing the treatment. You would need to do research in your area to find out. The fee has not changed significantly for porcelain veneers over the last few years so the fee may be similar to what you paid the first time or a little higher. Dr. Lemongello

What is the difference between veneers and lumineers?

Wednesday, May 11th, 2011
Q.
Is it me or is there little difference between veneers and lumineers? Do they botht do the same job or is one made of better material. Basically, what is the differece?
A.
There is little difference in that veneers and Lumineers are both made of porcelain and share the technique of being minimally invasive. However, traditional porcelain veneers fabricated by a skilled technician are much more artistically crafted in regards to beauty and natural appearance. Traditional veneers also have a better fit on the tooth and can be made of better materials than Lumineers.

I am unsure about veneers but can you please tell me about trial smiles?

Friday, April 1st, 2011
Q.
I am toying with the ideas of Veneers, but I am unsure whether to proceed, it is a big (and expensive!) step.

I have heard about ‘trial smiles,’ what do these involve, how much idea do you get of what the full veneer treatment would be like and roughly how much do they cost?

thanks

A.
A Trial Smile is a simple procedure that involves taking a mold of your teeth and fabricating a plastic overlay for the teeth. The cost is approxaimately $1000-$1200 and may not be worth it. The other option is to consult with a dentist and have a computer simulation image made of your smile to illustrate what you may look like with veneers. A consult and image is not very expensive. My advise is to consult with a well known cosmetic dentist and view their before and after photos. This will give you a good perspective of what can be accomplished. Can I replace front tooth cap with veneers?

Wednesday, March 16th, 2011
Q.
I currently have caps on front teeth. Can they be replaced with Veeners?
A.
Once you have caps they can only be replaced with caps. However, that shouldn’t matter because with today’s porcelain materials, caps can look as natural as natural teeth or veneers. Visit our website www. lernerlemongello.com for examples. Most of the patient’s in our gallery have a mixture of caps and veneers and you cannot tell which is which. Dr. Lemongello
