Wisdom teeth are causing me great pain?

Thursday, April 21st, 2011
Q.
My wisdom teeth have been coming through for around the last year, at intermittent stages but it always comes back and hurts like hell. They have hardly come through though which makes me think there may be a problem. Will they eventually come through or should I get to my dentist?
A.
I would recommend you see your dentist and have this evaluated. It sounds as if it is not going to get any better without treatment.

Last root canal hurt. Now I need another one. Can I just get the tooth extracted?

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011
Q.
The last time I had root canal work it was absolutely excruciating and hurt for weeks afterwards. I swore that I would never do it again. Now I have another tooth that the dentist wants to do root canal treatment on. Could I just have it extracted instead?
A.
Root canal treatment is usually not a painful procedure and easier than an extraction. I would recommend you consider completeing the root canal and save the tooth. You need to consider once the tooth is gone, what will you replace it with and how tooth loss will affect the rest of your teeth. With your past experience see a root canal specialist for the best chance of a good outcome. Dr. Lemongello

Is it normal to hvae translucency at bottom of teeth?

Wednesday, March 16th, 2011
Q.
On my front teeth I can see right at bottom of them that they are ever so slightly transparent. What I mean is that I can see thrtough them slightly. My dentist did not mention sucha thing when I had my check up two weeks ago and they cause no pain so I don’t think there is anything wrong. But, could you tell me if this could lead to a problem or is it nothing?
A.
The edge of your tooth has a natural zone of translucency where the tooth is thin. This is normal. Dr. Lemongello

Is dentist wrong in saying there is no cause for tooth ache?

Thursday, March 10th, 2011
Q.
I have been having bad toothache so I went to the dentist. the dentist took some x-rays and examined my teeth but said that he was not sure what was causing the tooth ache. He said my teeth looked to be in good shape and said he could not see ny required treatment to help ease the pain. All he did was recommend painkillers. Not much help really. Do you know of anything else that may be causing this annoying tooth ache?
A.
hi many thanks for your email, i think you maybe better trying to seek the advice of a second dentist for a second opinion. hope this is helpful.

I’m experiencing tooth pain and I have no idea why, what could be causing this?

Thursday, February 24th, 2011
Q.
hello, i’m experiencing severe tooth pain in my lower jaw at the back of my mouth. I have no idea why this is happening, it looks like it’s in good condition and i’ve had no work on it! The gum is swollen around the sore tooth too, i’m really concerned, what could be causing this??
A.
This could be what is called a “pericoronal infection” .  It can be extrememly painful and should be addressed immediately.

Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011
Q.
I had an accident just recently and i’m not sure whether I have to visit the dentist or the doctor. I knocked my front tooth half out and my nerve is showing through, it’s very painful but I don’t have any insurance so I don’t really know what to do, what do you think I can do?
A.
You need to see a dentist immediately.  I understand you do not have insurance but it will only cost more if you wait.  Dr. Lemongello

I would like a full mouth reconstruction, what is the first step I have to take?

Monday, February 21st, 2011
Q.
Hi, I am in dire need of a full mouth reconstruction. Over the years, I’ll admit I haven’t looked at me teeth as good as I should have and the majority of fallen out, as a result of this my mouth now appears to be fallen to one side. My front teeth have decayed badly and my gums bleed a lot. I know I should get this looked at but I can’t afford dental care and I have a major phobia of the dentist. What do you recommend I do? Thank you Dr.
A.
Dentistry has changed in many positive ways.  You are going to have to contain your fear and seek the help of a dentist.  Many dentists are trained in conscious sedation to reduce your fear and anxiety. Unfortunately, extensive dental treatment can be costly.  Start by consulting with a qualified dentist who specializes in complex dentistry.  You can then discuss your options and cost of treatment. Financing may be necessary.  Dr. Lemongello
