What is the difference between all of the invisalign treatments?

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

Q. What is the difference between: invisalign, invisalign express and invisalign teen? I’m 16 years old and looking into invisalign, there isn’t a lot of information about invisalign teen and express. Thank you.

A. Invisalign, Invisalign Express and Invisalign Teen are all the same treatment.  Each is a different category based on the complexity of treatment needed or the age of the patient. Th

e choice is made by the dentist as to which to use.  In your case Invisalign Teen might be chosen  but the others may work as well.  Dr. Lemongello

I want whiter teeth, but have now also decided I would like straighter teeth. What would you recommend?

Thursday, August 19th, 2010

Q. Hello doctors and thank you for your time. I am planning on getting my teeth whitening but drawing nearer to the time it has also made me want to get my crooked teeth fixed. What would you recommend in order for me to accomplish this?

A. I would recommend a consultation to review your options.  If you are a candidate for Invisalign you may be able to accomplish straightening and whitening at the same time.  If not, many options exist to accomplish straight, white teeth. Visit our website at www.lernerlemongello.com for examples.  Dr. Lemongello

Will I still be able to get braces, even though I already have veneers on several of my teeth?

Monday, August 16th, 2010

Q. I’m considering braces just to fix some mildly crooked teeth, for cosmetic reasons obviously but I currently have dental veneers on several of my teeth so can I have braces over these? Or will it ruin them? thanks

A.

You can have braces over veneers just let the dentist know.  Perhaps you should consider Invisalign instead.  This way no braces will be placed on the teeth at all.  Dr. Lemongello

Would I be able to carry on with Invisalign treatment when I move from UK to US?

Monday, August 9th, 2010

Q. Hi, I’m from the UK and just about to move to the south west of the US. I’m currently undergoing invisalign here and wondered if I could still carry it on in the US? If so do you know of anyone in the region who could help me? Thank you.

A. Once you arrive in the US go to the Invisalign website and look up doctors listed there. Explain your situation and someone may be willing to take on the case.  Unfortunately you may incur some additional expense to finish your treatment with another doctor. Dr. Lemongello

Can I use my mouth guard as a retainer?

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

Q. I was given a mouth guard to stop my grinding habits a few months ago and I’ve just finished my brace treatment but was told i need to pay for the retainer. Can my mouth guard act as a retainer for now? I was using invisalign and the retainers are pretty expensive and weren’t included within my treatment.

A. That is up to the doctor treating the case.

I don’t think the invisalign treatment is working for me, what should I do?

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

Q. I’m currently using the invisalign system and I’m not sure if it’s really working. I’m on trays 14/20 and my teeth appear to have not moved or look any different! My orthodontist said the treatment is going fine but I’m not convinced I’ve asked to see x-rays but she is refusing! Is this right? I’m really concerned.

A. Be patient with this treatment.

Will invisalign cost me less if I only have minor issues?

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

Q. I have had braces twice already, but wearing my retainer has always been a problem for me and now my teeth are beginning to shift again. Only one tooth has shifted on the top and two or three on the bottom and I want to try invisalign to try to correct the problem. But my question is since my teeth have very minor issues will invisalign cost less for me because insurance will not cover any form of braces for me again?

A. Invisalign may be ideal for your situation. Invisalign has 2 levels of treatment.  The first is for very limited treatment and has a lower cost and the second is for more involved cases.  Consult with an Invisalgn certified dentist to see if you are a candidate for the limited less expensive treatment.  Dr. Lemongello

Is dry mouth a problem that is supposed to occur when beginning Invisalign treatment?

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

Q. Is dry mouth a problem that is supposed to occur when beginning Invisalign treatment? I am getting this at the moment and it is a real nuisance. I thought it was supposed to be more saliva that was produced when you wear braces or at least that’s what I heard but I am not getting this. Any tips to help combat the issue would be appreciated.

A. This may be as a result of the Aligners causing you to have your mouth open rather than closed.  Try to drink water during the day as often as you can.  This may help.  Dr. Lemongello
