My dental crown fell out – what should I do?

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011
Q.
Three days ago I got a dental crown, but, for some unexplained reason, the crown has fallen out. The earliest appointment I could get at the dentist is early monday, but what can I do in the mean time to make sure my remaining tooth is not getting damaged? Should I be more careful when brushing my teeth?
A.
Hi, many thanks for your email. It is unusual for a crown to fall out so early after it has been fitted. If the crown can go directly back onto the tooth, you can purchase some temporary cement from an pharmacy and tempoariily recement it. Alternatively, my advice would be to brush it softly and stick to a soft diet till monday.

Having very recently had a bridge fitted is it normal for it to feel loose?

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011
Q.
I think my dentist has only applied temporary cement when placing my bridge because now it feels very loose, I’ve only had it for one day and I can’t eat for fearing that it’s going to fall out. What should I do?
A.
Go back to your dentist.
