Would i benefit from the inman aligner treatment?

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

Q. Hi i need a quick brace just to fix my bottom teeth that are pretty crooked. I’ve heard an inman aligner could help me? what do you think? What kind of cases do they treat? thank you

A. Depending upon the degree of crowding, they can work.  This is something that can accurately be determined by seeking an orthodontist.

What kind of orthodontic treatment could you recommend for me?

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

Q. i have a bad case of ‘buck tooth’ my two front teeth are horrid and huge. Not only that but they protrude further out than the rest of my teeth. What kind of orthodontic treatment can help me and is it possible to have the front teeth filed down? Thanks for any advice.

A. You may benefit from any type of orthodontic treatment. The teeth appear larger due to their position so do not have them filled down.  Once the orthodontic treatment is complete if you still think they are too big have them addressed then.  Dr. Lemongello

What orthodontic treatment can you suggest for me?

Monday, April 19th, 2010

Q. Hi, i have severe over crowding of the bottom set of teeth. i would like something to fix this.. also i have an overbite, what kind of orthodontics could fix this? i just need a general idea, thanks.

A. Any type of orthodontics would help here.  Treatment time is likelyk to be 2-3 years.  An alternative would be cosmetic dentistry.  Immediate results (2-3 weeks) with the opportunity to also change the shape and color of your teeth!

I have fixed braces and my wisdom teeth are coming through, what do I do?

Friday, April 9th, 2010

Q. Hi, i’ve had fixed braces on now for about 6 months but i think my wisdom teeth are coming through at the back of my mouth, what do i do? thanks

A. Perhaps you need to have the wisdom teeth removed.  You may be  able to wait until the braces are finished and have treatment then.  Consult with the orthodontist who is treating you.  Dr. Lemongello

Will invisalign be good for my crooked teeth?

Thursday, April 8th, 2010

Q. i’m in my 40’s and have never been happy with my teeth. they’re all very crooked especially the ones at the front. a friend told me about invisalign because i don’t want to have braces that show, not at my age anyway. will invisalign be good for me? are they completely invisible? i just need a rough idea about them, thanks.

A. Without examining your teeth, Invisalign is a good option for most people.  They are nearly invisable but if you look close enough you may be able to tell a person is wearing them.  They are however, invisable compared to any other type of braces.  You should consult with an Invisalign certified dentist to find out what your options are.  Dr. Lemongello

Why is mouth dy since getting braces?

Friday, December 11th, 2009

A. hi many thanks for your email, some people react differently to things in there mouths. see how it goes but keep drinking the water and hopefully things will get better.

Is invisalign or inman aligner better for straightening teeth?

Monday, November 23rd, 2009

Q. Which of invisalign and the inman aligner would you say is best for straightening teeth?

A. The Inman Aligner is used for a different situation than Invisalign and traditional orthodontics. Invisalign is used for more comprehensive orthodontic treatment like traditional braces. The Inman aligner is used more for treating minor crowding or alignment issues. Your dentist would have to decide which is the best option for your situation.

Which is best out of lingual and invisalign braces?

Monday, October 26th, 2009

Q. Which are the more popular out of lingual and invisalign braces? Which would you say it the better choice for straightening crooked teeth? Which are more easily available at clinics?

A. hi many thanks for your email, lingual braces are conventional braces but instead of being stuck on the fronts of the teeth they are stuck on the backs of your teeth. there are a very good way to striaghten crooked teeth.

Invisalign is a clear brace system which uses aligners. Aligners are thin clear plastic gum shields which are placed into the mouth over two weeks, the aligner moves the teeth to a certain position and then you remove that aligner and place the next aligner in the mouth. this happens until the teeth are striaght. it can take longer to correct crooked teeth with this type of treatment.

i would say invisalign is a very popular treatment as more general dentist can perform this type of treatment whereas lingual braces is more complexed to perform so less dentists are confident in doing this treatment.

What are the causes of gum recession?

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

Q. My gums seem to be receeding, and this is making both my teeth and gums quite sensitive. I think I may be a little too forecful when brushing my teeth – could this be the cause? Would you be able to advise me on the necessary treatment?

A. There are many causes of gum recession. It may be over aggressive brushing with a hard brush. Other causes are genetic, position of the tooth if the teeth are crowded and grinding of the teeth (bruxism). All of these would need to be evaluated and addressed before advice on your treatment can be given. Treatment may be as simple as a switching to a soft tooth brush and being less aggressive. Other treatment may involve straightening your teeth and adjusting your bite. Still, further treatment may be gum grafting to replace what is lost. I would recommend you see a Periodontist and let him evaluate the situation. Dr. Lemongello

Is there an alternative to braces to fix my crooked front teeth?

Tuesday, October 6th, 2009

Q. I have what I would consider as relatively good teeth, though I do have a problem with my two front teeth being slightly crooked. I would like to get this treated, but do not like the idea of braces. Would you be able to advise me on an effective yet cheap method to get this done?

A.

The teeth could be re-aligned by placing porcelain veneers on the face of the teeth. This is done by removing the portion of the tooth that is protruding and replacing the face of the tooth with a porcelain covering. You may need to treat more than just the two teeth to achieve balance in your smile design.
