Q. I am very scared to go to the dentist. This fear has become even greater as I have not dared go for ages and subsequently my teeth have got even worse and now I am even more terrified of what the dentist may say is necesasry to fix them. It is the costs, te treatment, everyrhing that is scaring me. I need help but don’t know where to start. Can you please point me in the right direction?
A. I recommend you contact a dentist who offeres sedation. Schedule a consult and meet with the dentist to discuss your fears. Once you take this step and are comfortable with the dentist let them complete an examination and consult you further on your dental health needs. Take small steps and communicate with the dentist about sedating you for treatment. Over time your fear will be reduced enough to move forward. Dr. Lemongello

Q. Hi, I have a small hole in between my front teeth, it’s very small so I don’t see what can be done about it. I wondered if the dentist would consider removing the teeth with the hole? Or would he just fill it in with a composite material or something? Could you please suggest what he might do so I am aware of the cost? Thank you.
A. I have no idea without seeing the case. You will have to be seen to determine that.

Q. i know what gum contouring is but not entirely sure what tooth contouring is, could you simplify the procedure for me and please tell me why you might need this? I have very small teeth and large gums so i have a very gummy smile but the dentist said he wouldn’t go ahead with surgery on my gums because then my teeth would become very loose I don’t know what else I can do. Thank you for any advice in advance.
A. Tooth recontouring is reshaping the tooth. Usually this is used when you have a small chip or worn area on a tooth. The tooth is recontoured, blending the chip or worn area into a more natural shape. Tooth contouring will not improve your situation. Unless you have loose teeth now the probability of having loose teeth after gum recountouring is small. For an example of what is possible visit our website www.lernerlemongello.com. Under the smile gallery look at Flavia’s teeth. Flavia is the photo on the top row, third from the left. With the proper treatment this is a predicatable outcome. Contact our office if you would like a consultation. Dr. Lemongello

Q. Hello. I understand that the inman aligner is almost like a combination of both invisalign and a traditional brace, is this true? If so, how effective is this brace? I’m looking into it because of it’s time span, i fear that it’s too good to be true! If you could tell me as much as yuo know that would be brilliant, kind regards.
A. The inman aligner is a removable device designed to move teeth. It is effective in creating minor tooth movements but not full mouth orthodontics.

Q. Hi doc; My question to u is, I have 4 tooth missing from my upperright side and 4 from my upper left side that is from the eye teeth going back. How many implants would it take to replace them. Is it 1 implant per tooth.
A. The maximum number would be 8 and the minimum number would be 4. In general the more implants placed the better because you are replacing each missing tooth individually. However, sometimes this is not practical due to the amount of bone remaining to support the implants or financial reasons. In this case, implant supported bridges can be placed to reduce the number of implants required. Dr. Lemongello

Q. Can I have teeth whitening done if i’m been found to have cavities? If i go to the dentist i want to receive the treatment from and he sees that i have cavities will he just refuse the treatment? I have a small hole in one of my top teeth but desperate to have my teeth whitened asap for a photo shoot. I’m going to get the hole fixed as soon as i the shoot has finished.
A. Bleaching teeth with cavaties presents a potentiaol problem and the dentist is being prudent in making sure all the cavaties are corrected before whitening treatment is implemented.

Q. What is the difference between: invisalign, invisalign express and invisalign teen? I’m 16 years old and looking into invisalign, there isn’t a lot of information about invisalign teen and express. Thank you.
A. Invisalign, Invisalign Express and Invisalign Teen are all the same treatment. Each is a different category based on the complexity of treatment needed or the age of the patient. Th
e choice is made by the dentist as to which to use. In your case Invisalign Teen might be chosen but the others may work as well. Dr. Lemongello

Q. I want teeth whitening doctor but my dentist is NHS. I know that this is not possible then but what can I do? I don’t want to leave my dentist but really feel that having my teeth whitened could make a real difference. Thanks in advance.
A. You just simply have to weigh out what you can afford. NHS dentistry will never cater to your cosmetic needs and likely will not cater to good comprehensive dentistry.
