My dental crown fell out – what should I do?

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011
Q.
Three days ago I got a dental crown, but, for some unexplained reason, the crown has fallen out. The earliest appointment I could get at the dentist is early monday, but what can I do in the mean time to make sure my remaining tooth is not getting damaged? Should I be more careful when brushing my teeth?
A.
Hi, many thanks for your email. It is unusual for a crown to fall out so early after it has been fitted. If the crown can go directly back onto the tooth, you can purchase some temporary cement from an pharmacy and tempoariily recement it. Alternatively, my advice would be to brush it softly and stick to a soft diet till monday.

Can’t afford implant but does crown require special cleaning?

Wednesday, March 9th, 2011
Q.
I am goind to be getting a dental crown. I could get a dental implant but I don’t have enough money to spare for that at the moment. All I would like to know is if normal floss is sufficient to clean around the dental crown when I get it and whether just normal teeth cleaning will do? Not special care required is there, just the normal routine?
A.
There is no special care required.  Treat it like a natural tooth with brushing, flossing and regular dental visits.  Dr. Lemongello
