Will teeth whitening affect crown?

Q.
I have a dental crown right near the front of my mouth on my upper teeth. My other teeth are now looking quite a dirty colour and so I want to get them whitened. If I were to do so would this have any effect on the colour of the crown? Would teeth whuitening make the crown stand out or anything?
A.
The crown will not be affected by the bleaching process.

What is the maryland bridge?

Q.
Someone mentioned to me the maryland bridge or something along those lines as an alternative to implants? I don’t really know what this is, if you could give me some info?
A.
A Maryland bridge is a bridge that is bonded to the adjacent teeth instead of reducing the adjacent teeth. Think of a tooth with wings on each side. These wings are bonded to the adjacent teeth. The advantage is that it is minimally invasive to the adjacent teeth. The disadvantages are that they are not as predictable long term and should only be used to replace a missing front tooth. Also, depending on the skill of the dentist and the materials used the esthetic outcome may be compromised.

What help is there for patients who fear the dentist?

Q.
I have been unable to go to the dentist in about four years now. Just the idea of going to the place has me in a state as I am just so scared of the place. I even hate walking past the place. I used to force myself to go but my dentist just didn’t understand how fearful I was about the whole thing. Could you offer me any advice as to how I can get through this problem?
A.
hi many thanks for your email, the main thing would be to go for a first appointment and try to build a relationship. the treatment could be done under IV sedation. hope this is helpful.
