My front tooth has been knocked loose, do I need to go to a dentist?

Q.

My front tooth was knocked a bit loose after a bust up yesterday. can yout ell me if i need to go to dentist or if this problem will get better? there is a dull ache.

A.
Often these will tighten up. However, it would be important to have it looked at to make sure you do not have a fracture. This would create alot of problems.

My 10+ year old crowns look tired. How simple is crown replacement?

Q.
I have had crowns on 6 of my teeth for 10+ years, but I now think they are starting to look tired and a different sahde from the rest of my teet. How simple id crown replacement, would I have to go to the same dentist who fitted them initially?
A.
Replacement is fairly easy. It would depend upon the condition of the teeth under the crowns. No, you would not have to go to the dentist who originally treated them. It would be important to see someone who is talented in smile design. If you are in the UK, I would reccommend Dr. Komal Suri, in Wendover. Very gifted!!

Is fallen out filling an emergency or can it wait until I next return to France?

Q.
Hi, I am a French lady who lives in England but i still have my French insurance. My big problem is that i had a filling fallen out yesterday but my next trip to France is only in 2 months. Is it a danger to stay like that so long ? i don’t feel any pain (ok a little bit), just a strange feeling with this big hole, and i am scared of chewing now and uncomfortable. So should i book a flight in emergency ?
Thanks really REALLY a lot if you reply
A.
I would recommend you seek treatment now do not wait. If you do not want to fly back to France find a dentist in the UK and pay directly for it. The dentist listed on this website is a good choice. Dr. Lemongello

Dentist said Inman aligner may close my tooth gaps. Would it?

Q.
I visited a dentist to see about losing a 5mm gap in my teeth. He recommended the Inman Aligner which he claimed, ‘might’ close the gap. I tried to push him on this ‘might,’ but i think he was a politician in a past life and I didn’t get anything more concrete out of him. How effective are Inaman Aligners for closing a gap like this? should I get a second opinion? I don’t really want to go trhough with the work unless there is a substantial chance of success.
A.
Inman Aligner is good for crowding and movement of teeth on a limited basis. If you want to be sure, it may require traditional orthodontic treatment.

What type of crown should I get, and what are the differences?

Q.
What type of crowns should I get, procelain? ceramic? gold? what are differences?
A.
There is no one best crown for all situations. Gold crowns work very well on back teeth, while all ceramic work very well on front teeth. Discuss with your dentist what is the best treatment for your situation. Dr. Lemongello

Where can I go for a top drawer new smile?

Q.
Hello Doctor

I want a brand spanking new smile and money is no object.

I always hated my teeth and have recently come into a significant amount of money. I don’t want to buy a frerrari, I’d rather fix my teeth.

How much am I looking at for a proper, top drawer new smile and how long would the process take?

A.
First, align yourself with an excellent Cosmetic Dentist. If you are in the UK, you want to see a Dr. Komal Suri in Wendover. You can google her and tell her Dr. Kirtley referred you. If in the US, refer to the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry web site for referral to someone in your area.

How much of an impact would smoking (five each day) have on my oral health?

Q.
how much of an impact would you say my smoking (five each day) is having on my oral health. I mean REALLY?
A.
REALLY?…..Quit! It is affecting the condition of your mouth, teeth and gum tissue. You are certainly more likely to develope oral cancer if you are a smoker. Nothing good here to say…sorry!

Last root canal hurt. Now I need another one. Can I just get the tooth extracted?

Q.
The last time I had root canal work it was absolutely excruciating and hurt for weeks afterwards. I swore that I would never do it again. Now I have another tooth that the dentist wants to do root canal treatment on. Could I just have it extracted instead?
A.
Root canal treatment is usually not a painful procedure and easier than an extraction. I would recommend you consider completeing the root canal and save the tooth. You need to consider once the tooth is gone, what will you replace it with and how tooth loss will affect the rest of your teeth. With your past experience see a root canal specialist for the best chance of a good outcome. Dr. Lemongello
