Q. Hi i need a quick brace just to fix my bottom teeth that are pretty crooked. I’ve heard an inman aligner could help me? what do you think? What kind of cases do they treat? thank you
A. Depending upon the degree of crowding, they can work. This is something that can accurately be determined by seeking an orthodontist.

Q. i have a bad case of ‘buck tooth’ my two front teeth are horrid and huge. Not only that but they protrude further out than the rest of my teeth. What kind of orthodontic treatment can help me and is it possible to have the front teeth filed down? Thanks for any advice.
A. You may benefit from any type of orthodontic treatment. The teeth appear larger due to their position so do not have them filled down. Once the orthodontic treatment is complete if you still think they are too big have them addressed then. Dr. Lemongello

Q. Hello, i had a filling placed a few weeks ago and it was a very deep filling my dentist told me if my tooth is still bad i may need a root canal. I’m experiencing severe pain now from this tooth (bottom, back of the mouth) and i think i might need a root canal OR could this just be the filling taking a while to set because it’s quite large? What do you think i should do?
A. It sounds as though root canal treatment is likely. Don’t wait…it can get worse very quickly.

Q. I’d like to have my teeth filed down (my two front top teeth) as they’re a lot larger than the rest of my teeth i’d also like to have my teeth whitened at the same time. Is it possible to have both treatments done in one sitting? Have you ever done this before? Thank you for your time.
A. Whitening can be accomplsihed any time with or without treatment of your front teeth. It is unusual to require having your two front teeth filed down because they are too big. It may be they are out of position or broad in your smile. It may also be that they appear big because the teeth next to the front ones are actually too small and need to be bigger. I rarely if ever recommend filing down two front teeth as treatment. Instead, I would consult with a dentist and determine which teeth are actually out of position or proportion and what treatment options would be best. Dr. Lemongello

Q. hello, i’ve got a dental implant in and a few weeks ago i had my teeth whitened but now the implant really sticks out because it’s darker in colour. Can i do anything to get this the same colour as the rest of my teeth?
A. Unfortunately, the best solution is to have the crown re-made to the color of your whitened teeth.

Q. can you recommend the best type of dentures out there? Either removable or flexible whatever.. I’m considering them because i have gum disease and have been told my teeth are going to fall out or be extracted thank you.
A. The best denture is one supported by dental implants. A conventional denture made of rigid material with high quality denture teeth custom fitted for esthetics and a good bite is what I would recommend. Stay away from the cheep denture clinics. These are usually cheaper materials and the doctors will take little time to custom fit for esthetics and function. Dr. Lemongello

Q. Is there an age limit to get teeth whitening. My daughter wants the treatment – kids seem to be going up so fast these days – but I think she is too young at 13. Your advice on this would be greatly appreciated Dr Kirtley.
A. 13 is a little young. I like to wait until they are at least 16.

Q. I have a patient with missing #23, 24, 25, and 26. The patient’s existing teeth #22 and 27 are perfectly fine. I have lightly prepared both existing teeth for a Maryland Bridge, which i have never delivered. Please let me know what cement i may use to bond the Maryland Bridge. I currently have Ketac Cement and Kerr Nexus NX3. Will either one of these bonding agent work or do i need to get something better? Thank you for your consideration in response.
A. I would recommend Panavia 21 utilizing a “total etch” technique first followed by use of the self etching primer and bonding agent from the kit. The technique is after etching with 35% Phosporic acid follow the directions in the kit. This will improve the bond strength of Panavia. Be dilligent with the adjustment of your occlusion due to the extensive span for a Maryland bridge and keep your centric and excursive contacts very light. Dr. Lemongello
