Q.
My 70 year old mother had root canal treatment but is still suffering from some pain. She suffers from kidney disease and diabetes so this is another unwated burdon. The dentist has said my mother will need to have her tooth removeed. Are there any alternatives to this?

Hi, many thanks for your email. If the root canal treatment has not been sucessful, first you need to assess whether the quality of the root canal is of a good standard. If it is not, you could see a specialist endodontist to try to improve the root canal. If the root canal has been done to a good standard then the only option will be to extract the tooth.
