Q. My dentist has told me I can have a dental crown or implants, but i dont know which one to go for. obivously money is a bit of a factor so which one is more expensive and the better option?
A. The question is unclear….crowns usually go on top of an implant…..do you mean you can have implants or a bridge? If that is the case definitely choose the implant option.

Q. i have just read something about all in 4 i think it was called to do with a new kind of implant sysatem for attaching dentures. do you know anything about this and how good it is? supposedly it requires fewer implants which is onyl good in my opinion as it is cheaper but can you say anything more about it?
A. I am not familiar with this system but the benefits of using traditional implants to secure dentures are proven. If 4 implants are beyond your budget than use 2 now. You can always add more later to gain better denture security in the future. Make sure you only use traditional implants. The mini implants do not have the same benefits. Dr. Lemongello

Q. Hi Dr Kirtlley I am pregnant but can you tell meif getting teeth whitened is okay for me to do or will this cause problems? I am three months pregnant.
A. Always best to get through the first tri-mester before any type of dental treatment and usually best to do only those things that are neccessary….although there is not current literature on anything of a harmful nature in regards t bleaching while pregnant I feel it is always best to get through the pregnancy

Q. I am going to get four teeth removed because of gum disease and will be getting a partial denture soon after when the gums are sorted. He then said that some time after that I can get dental implants to cplete the job. I am unsure about implants and was wondering if a bridge may be a suitable alternative to the implants? Which would you say is the bestter option for me seen as I have had gum disease, well still have it.
A.
It is difficult to assess your situation. Usually if you are a candidate for implants they are planned initially. Implants are your best option but depending on what teeth remain and the condition of those teeth bridges may be considered. Speak to your dentist about the expected treatment.

Q. Is the maryland bridge a particularly good one. My dentist has recommended it to me but it seems quite expensive. What is the deal with it and are there any cheaper alternatives?
A.
A Maryland bridge is a good solution when the teeth next to the missing tooth are still healthy. Replacing a missing tooth in an esthetic natural appearing way can be costly when done right. Other alternatives are a single tooth dental implant and crown. This option may be similar in cost to the bridge. The least expensive option is a removal partial denture that you take in and out of your mouth.
